The knights fans accident

As you all will know by now, yesterday in Newcastle, there was a major incident on the link road. The Newcastle Knights fans lined up to send the boys off to the Grand Final, proud of their team, proud for their city, proud of the underdogs being in the grand final. Yet one man’s choice, it ended in tragedy.

I was one of the many witnesses, who were on scene, and the day of celebration went to the darkest moment for this grand final season.

10 people, including children, were victims of a stupid driver of a BMW, whose name is known to all now, but I won’t waste my breath on this idiotic driver. Now over 24 hours later, plus some interest in my experience of the event with friends and family and people I know wanting a full review of what happened, I thought I’d write a bit more, so there’s more context which wasn’t included in the papers.

I worked that morning, and I decided to finish up early so that I can send the team of, as a local. My family’s business posted immediately their heartbreak over the event, and let people know that I was there at the incident. The Sunday Telegraph reached out to the company to see if I can or was willing to talk to them. Which I did. I also got reached out too by The Sun-herald for an interview too. While I appreciate these interviews, and only so much can be included in a major story. I’d like to make further comments.

I was there as I said to send of the boys as a local, but also to create content about Newcastle being in the grand final, which I mentioned to both papers. But that content would’ve been tainted by the event, so the footage would be turned to something different now.

On the driver: the sun-herald included my quote, “if the copper (cop) wasn’t there the driver would have had massive injuries as well” I said this in relation to being attacked by the crowd. They wanted him dead, they wanted him to suffer.

The event truly turned horrific, and hell did break lose.

There are fundraisers that have been made, and I urge you to donate if you can.

Now personally, there will be time for healing and counseling for all involved, I’m doing okay, all things considered. I’ve been seeing it every time I close my eyes. I don’t think I’ll get over it anytime soon, but my heart goes out to the families involved. We need to support them more.

I hope this scum gets the punishment he deserves, I hope that he becomes known and if he is ever out on the streets he knows that he is Newcastle’s most wanted. Disgusting behaviour by him ruined the day for everyone, the family, the locals and the reason for the day.

Newcastle knights, have made statements as a team and individuals. Everyone is behind the victims, and the Newcastle knights have 10 reasons to win more now.

For any further comments, it’ll be done only through media sources. But thank you for everyone who has reached out.
